Obtaining appropriate protection for intellectual property assets is only the first step to maximizing the value of an intellectual property portfolio. The portfolio must be managed adroitly so that the assets meaningfully enhance the business of our clients. Thus, we discuss with our clients how intellectual property assets, once created, can be exploited to enhance corporate wealth. We understand that exploitation of intellectual property assets takes many forms ranging from assertion of intellectual property rights against infringers to licensing or cross-licensing technology to competitors, or creating a coordinated synergism of intellectual property assets that serves to enhance our clients' commercial offerings. Using these strategies, we have successfully leveraged our clients' intellectual property throughout the world, so much so that certain of our clients essentially are "intellectual property companies" that generate large percentages of their revenue from the exploitation of their technologies by others.
